“Against all odds, I am on my way to becoming a nurse….”.

Born on May 15, 1999, in Mangu village, Northwest Region of Cameroon, Miss Courage faced adversity from a young age, losing her father at 4 and her mother at 13. She grew up with her uncle and pursued her education amidst challenges, completing primary school and secondary school until Form 5.

However, her education was interrupted by the Anglophone Crisis, forcing her to move to Douala in 2017. Living with her maternal aunt and struggling with limited resources, she enrolled in evening school, passed the GCE Ordinary Level in 2018, and later, after many setbacks, succeeded in obtaining her GCE Advanced Level in 2021.

Despite her determination, financial constraints continuously obstructed her dreams. She worked tirelessly as a babysitter and a banana plantation laborer, saving every penny with the hope of pursuing her nursing education, but lost the money to an unfortunate incident.

In October 2023, she managed to register for a Nursing course, but her journey almost ended when she couldn’t pay the first installment of her tuition. She found hope again when Bread & Water for Africa through our education program came to her rescue and has supported her now for the last two years.

With continued backing, she will achieve her dream of becoming a nurse, breaking the cycle of extreme struggles in her life and inspiring others.
